In 2003, Oyaide released the first made-in-Japan audio grade AC power plugs and IEC connectors, the P/C series. Due to their unparalleled quality, superior usability, distinctive and colorful outer cover design and Oyaide’s own musical sound quality, Oyaide has been the dominant world-wide choice since then.

The P/C series AC power plug and IEC connectors have received prestigious awards not only from the Japanese Hi Fi press, but from Hi Fi critics worldwide. We have been supplying our AC power plugs and IEC connectors as an OEM vendor to the top Hi End cable manufacturers as well as various Hi End equipment manufacturers worldwide for decades. We have been working since 2014 to develop the next standard in AC power plugs and IEC connectors. Thus we are proud to finally release the new “ARMORED” AP/AC series to the world.

The one and only “ Dual Housing with Flexible Cable Clamp System” With the most up to date vibration control theory in mind, we designed our new dual housing system with a flexible cable clamping system to control vibrations efficiently for the highest possible playback accuracy. Listening to the ‘Armored” Series connectors gives one the feeling that the energy delivered to the component is unlimited. Heavy damping technique is only one component of our latest research into vibration control, we also use diffusion and releasing techniques to achieve a unique new standard, building on original our P/C series.

Selected materials are more refined than ever

The blade material choices for new “ARMORED” AP/AC series are inherited from the former successful P/C series. Beryllium copper (AP/AC-004), deoxidized phoshpor bronze (AP/AC-037), pure brass (AP/AC-029) are chosen for the first line up models of new “ARMORED” series. These were chosen not only for their higher electric conductivity, but also for various additional factors such as springiness and hardness for their primary functions. Applying our extensive experience, we carefully reviewed and updated the annealing process temperatures and duration for each selected material, maximizing the performance of each one. Barrel polishing, followed by hand buffing for a mirror finish remain key features of Oyaide connectors. For the new “Armored” Series we carefully evaluated the effect that multiple small details would have in refining the performance of the new parts. The resin material used to house the contacts is made from PBT with 30% glass fiber, and chosen for its excellent mechanical strength, superior heat resistance and vibration damping ability. For the dual housings, we adopted polycarbonate material. Both housings in these new, higher grade models are treated with the Ion plating (IP) process which “armors” them and provides a highly sophiscated appearance.

The finish of the housing, the device, the blades as well as the use of just one stainless screw are carefully planned, engineered and produced using the high standards of Japanese craftsmanship. Though designated as “audio grade” AC power plugs, all of our AC power plugs and IEC connectors are designed in accordance with JIS specifications and have passed PSE certification (Japanese Electrical Appliances and Materials Safety Act).
